VIDEOTRUTHS / OUR STANDARDS
Claims, not personalities.
Our standards keep the focus on evidence and the decisions viewers face.
- Evaluate claims, not personalities.
- Represent statements fairly and preserve relevant context.
- Include timestamps when practical.
- Prefer primary sources and link to meaningful evidence.
- Actively acknowledge accurate claims.
- Separate facts, analysis, opinion, and uncertainty.
- Do not infer intent or speculate about private finances.
- Distinguish false statements from incomplete or unsupported ones.
- Do not stretch the evidence to produce a negative verdict.
- Correct meaningful errors and show material report updates.
- Disclose relevant commercial relationships.
- Advertising does not determine editorial conclusions.
Before a report is published
Important factual conclusions should be checked against reliable sources. A report should identify the original video, explain the claims tested, credit what holds up, and describe material limitations.
A draft is clearly labeled as being in editorial review. No claim result or risk rating should be implied before the evidence has been checked.
